About Us - and how we got here
We married in 1988 and in those blissful intervening years we moved 16 times and lived in the following states: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Texas, Washington, Texas (yep, moved back into the same house), Arkansas, Georgia and Arizona.
With all this moving around you would think we would be able to pretty well pinpoint where we wanted to live when we retired.
Not even close!!!
We recently took a few trips to see if we could narrow down the places we wanted to look and went from Washington to Arkansas. Nope, no dice, we could not find that place that "spoke" to us - perhaps we just didn't understand the language.
So where do we go from here? We decided to buy a truck and RV and hit the road. Given all the places we can go, we are not sure if we will ever settle down (we haven’t seen the need to grow up, so why settle down?). Who knows, the adventure of the road may be so captivating that we continue to call the 180 square feet of Nimbus, our Airstream, home for a long time. Then again, Nimbus could be up for sale in 6 months, but knowing us we doubt it.
Here's a bit more info about us:
Jim - began in IT in 1977 when a hard drive took up the back seat of a car. He worked at various IT companies through all the booms and busts as a Project Manager and Business Development Manager (ooh, fancy title) and recently retired from Cisco Systems, then went back as a Contractor and is now done, officially. He is an accomplished athlete and bicycle tourer who has ridden many miles on his Surly Disc Trucker. And he enjoys photography and has had photos published and displayed in various places. He can't wait to show you the view, hence a bit of our blog name, Room With A View.
Denise - with a B. A in Psychology (want fries with that?) I began my career working for the Court in Toledo, OH and stayed for almost 10 years. Knowing that the private sector paid a more livable wage I went to work for several tech firms and worked my way up to Program Manager for Intecom when September 11th happened. I didn't survive the bust of IT and eventually found a job at JB Hunt as a Pricing Manager, then finished my career in GA as an Operations person for a freight brokerage firm. After relocating to AZ I became a Volunteer Naturalist at a State Park and led bird hikes. Yep, I'm a bird nut and a nature nut. I'm also an avid hiker and am being lured into biking by my bike nut husband.

Jim and Denise - we went to high school together in Sylvania, OH and I winked at him at a party in the fall of 1972. We don't remember whose party it was, but if anyone knows, can you please tell us? Like most high school things it didn't stick but we did get back together in 1988, thanks to Denise's mom who said to Jim when he called, "She's single, has her own home and a good job, here's her phone number." I was 30 at the time and I think she felt sorry for me. We've been married since 1988 and have worked hard to retire as early as possible. Now we're free to roam the country and find our place. At least that's the plan for now....stay tuned.
