We headed up Going to the Sun Road and stopped at several turn outs along the way. Gorgeous lake and mountain views surrounded us and McDonald Falls was loud and fast. You could smell the pines and hear them shushing in the wind. Peaceful, serene and exactly what we came for. This area is called the Crown of the Continent and we see why.
Bears, bears and more bears. Along with the Park map it's the first piece of paper they give you at the gate - how to be bear aware. They start out kind of nice about it but pretty soon they say things like: "People have been injured and killed by bears in Glacier National Park". They also talk about avalanches, hypothermia, mountain lion attacks and giardia. The only thing not mentioned is pestilence and plague. They really mean business. Getting back to nature isn't for the faint of heart but we'll follow the rules and hopefully get out of here alive. Overall rating a 10 for sure.
